In corporate employment, it is common for the seniors to delegate subordinate staff sometimes to the point where is becomes unfair. Have you heard about juniors who draft executive board papers, attend national meetings, drive corporate projects, etc. I know you have or even could be a victim of such occurrences. I have, and we see a lot of such in our African corporate companies. What comes to your mind when such things happen? What would make you make you think it is an exposure opportunity or exploitation? Let’s brainstorm some points that support each of these thoughts.

I would consider any assignment to be exposure if the following apply:

1. The assignment is relevant to your job

2. Notice of the assignment is given when there is still enough time to prepare

3. You are the only or one of the specialist on the subject assignment

4. You are aspiring for the position for which the assignment belong

5. The assignment has benefits such as documented credits for good performance, financial return in form of bonuses, it opens chances for a promotion or better employment opportunities, etc.

Opposites of the points above can be considered as exploitation. In addition to those are the following:

1. The boss is lazy to do the work

2. If poor performance on the assignment warrants a dismissal

3. All benefits will go to the boss and not for company

4. The assignment arises from poor performance of the boss

Points to each of these extreme opposites are many. I know you could come up with your own points that are even more than what I listed.

Do you reject the assignment, conveniently under perform to expose the boss, resign, or look for another job? The answer is simple – decide for that whose consequences you can take. What does this mean? Plan for the action you want to take, don’t be blind. Once again, leak repairs should be performed as soon as the leak source has been determined, so as to minimize the damage the leak could produce. Once you have seen the leak, make sure to remove everything that could be affected by direct moisture, such as TVs, computers, pictures on the wall, chairs, desks, and so on. Remember that these are just temporary measures, and that you need leak repairs, because the more you let it drip without taking action the more damage it is likely to cause to your home.

Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) services are becoming quite popular these days. One reason behind this is the increase in the number of statutory compliances for corporate organizations.

Lack of transparency and regulation has been identified as one of the factors that engendered the recession which in turn shook the roots of the American economy. Authorities have responded to this by making it mandatory for important financial institutions to maintain certain records to increase transparency. It is natural that firms will try to outsource as much work as possible because they are already cash strapped.  Even the American Bar Association approves legal process outsourcing. The LPO industry is useful for small and medium sized businesses because such organizations find it more difficult to deal with the compliance burden. Some companies are concerned about the degree of confidentiality and data protection issues in legal process outsourcing firms. However, this should not be a concern because these firms adhere to the standards accepted in USA or UK.

On the whole, LPO seems to be the best option for law firms and corporate bodies because two birds are killed with the same stone: the cumbersome legal requirements are met and expenses are kept low.

Writing an effective business email is a very important element in internet marketing. How you write your letter can affect the response of your readers or prospective customers. Below are the do’s and don’ts when writing a business email:

The subject line counts a lot. The recipient may decide to open your email or just delete it based on your subject. Never use words or phrases that might mislead your readers. A good subject line shows what is the exact topic of your email.

No to exclamations! Do not include exclamation marks to try to emphasize the urgency of your e-mail. Notice how most junk mails contain not only one but several exclamation marks to grab attention.

Stay focused on your message. When composing your message, always remember to highlight only the most important details and go straight to the point. Keep in mind that people do not have the patience to read a long letter. You may also want to keep your reader’s attention focused only on one idea so you can urge them to take positive action.

Use bulleted lists. If you must enumerate ideas or points, it is best to use a bulleted format so you won’t ever have to include unnecessary words.

Practice professional writing standards. Before sending out your business email to its recipient, make sure that there are no grammatical and typographical errors.

Do not send attachments. Marketing e-mails with attachments are often deleted immediately because people think that they may contain worms or a dreadful virus.

Properly introduce yourself. Make sure that your recipient is completely aware of who you are, what company you represent and the purpose of your email. An appropriate introduction should be the first thing that they will see in your message.

Skip using the smilies. Smilies and emoticons are used to add a more personal touch but these are best left out when writing a business marketing email because it might not help in keeping the professionalism of your email.

Do not use slang. Just like smilies, the use of slang or informal language should be avoided when writing a business letter.

Observe courtesy. Writing a business e-mail is just another form of communicating with your customers. Always be polite in addressing your recipient. Keep in mind that the person who may be reading your email is a prospective customer and you want to give the best impression at all times.
