How To Find The Crowd In Your Niche Market By Abe Cherian
Copyright ? 2005

The largest problem with getting leads involves working the
hardest way possible Vs. working the easiest way. The vast
majority of businesses today markets backwards, and then they
act all surprised when there’s no response.

The vast majority of business owners do this. They Create or
have services or products from their company and they expect to
go out and find people to sell their products or services to.

This is a huge mistake. This method of trying to make money can
work if you have an unlimited capacity for spending money,
wasting time, and have no concern for risk.

If you’re like most of us, we who want to do things a little
more safely and cheaply. There’s is one positive way to make a
large income.

Find Your Market First. Find Out What The People Want. Then let
them buy what they’ve told you they want. You must not spend any
time thinking about the product or service you will render until
you’ve discovered the market.

A perfectly matched message to the right market is the best and
safest way to go. I am stressing the market to you in a strong
way and not the product or service.

You must decide what market either you, or someone else you
choose to work with knows throughout. You have to find markets
that really, really want things.

There are literally thousands of potential tightly niched
markets out there. Your first job is to find them. find what
people want before you even begin to think about what kind of
products or services they might buy from you.

There are some bad products or services out in the world today
that very surprisingly sells extremely well. This has baffled
most common cultures and they are still selling.

You must «find the crowd» first before getting into that
wishful thinking you have the best products or services. Find
them and find out what they want.

Pick a group you thoroughly understand that you can share your
passion with. Your credibility with. Finding a target market,
one you understand completely will allow you to know people’s
wants. Then start building your business around your findings.

The most common hurdle businesses face are they think they have
the next big thing next to baked bread. Then they ask
themselves, «who is going to buy it?»

Do you believe that everyone will line up to do business with
you? Not Hardly!

One of the most damaging mistakes is people reading the old
«Road-To-Riches» books taught in marketing. This is the reason
why the majority of people in their own businesses don’t last
two years.

Finding a market of interested prospective customers who
respond to you is the greatest lesson learned ever! Listen to
them tell you what they want. Let them buy whatever they want to
buy.

Imagine having no bothersome counseling. No product samples. No
taste testing. No advising. Just good old selling. You show them
your product or service and they buy it.

Then once they are sold you get them to refer friends and family
and you go out and sell more. Your customers do not want a sales
counselor. They just want a house, car or piece of equipment
etc… Being a pushy salesperson is the greatest toughest
challenge there is.

No one believes anyone’s sales pitch. No one cares about your
«professionalism» or how long your company has been in business.
No one wants to hear how your company will solve all their
problems and make their lives better.

You must constantly look for the one out of a million people
who actually want what you’re selling or want to invest in your
services. Period!

You have to fight everyone by being an adversary. And until you
rearrange your thinking about finding the market first, you’ll
always be in this needless battle.

How to select the best wholesale supplier

How to Select the Best Wholesale Supplier

Copyright (c) 2009 Steven Holmes

As a retailer I’m often approached by new wholesale, hoping to wrestle my custom away from my existing suppliers. Promises of huge discounts, ever-changing product ranges and a far superior level of service to the one provided by my long-standing wholesaler. The problem is that in the early days of my retail career, when margins were the only thing I cared about, I was seduced by these promises and changed my supplier on a number of occasions, invariably to be disappointed each time. This taught me a valuable lesson — once you’ve found a reliable supplier who provides you with the correct goods, on time, and with a level of customer service that isn’t offensive, stick with them unless you’re absolutely certain that someone can do better.

Of course the number of wholesalers you have to choose from varies greatly from product to product so you may have your mind made up for you. If not though, the key considerations you should bare in mind are as follows:

Reputation — Don’t be afraid to ask other people, even if they are the competition. Try to get the opinion of at least one person who has worked with the supplier before. If the reaction is positive then at least you have a first-hand referral. If a supplier has a reputation for being bad just avoid them. Your shop’s success relies on a continuous flow of stock, so anything that gets in the way of this could be damaging. It’s vert easy to be tempted into using a supplier with a bad reputation because they have the lowest prices. You will regret it!

Language — The way the retail industry is now, a huge number of wholesalers/suppliers are based overseas. Ensure that any overseas supplier you use has a member of staff who is a fluent speaker of your language, unless you happen to be a fluent speaker of there’s. It is vitally important that you can communicate clearly with your suppliers

Payment Terms — Choose a supplier whose payment terms fit with the finances of your business. Very few suppliers these days will ask for the full amount up front but if they do, and to do so would stretch you financially, walk away. Instead choose a wholesaler who operates a sale-or-return policy or a credit policy. This will give you enough time to generate the funds needed to pay for the stock, without putting your business at risk.

Product Range — Differentiation is absolutely critical in retail. If you sell products that are different to the competition then you can sell them at a higher price because of exclusivity. If your products are the same as everyone else’s then the shop with the cheapest prices will get the sale. If possible, find a wholesaler who offers a wide range of original products that are exclusive to them only. For example, if you’re in the market for a wholesale costume jewellery or wholesale fashion jewellery supplier, you will probably find that a number of wholesalers in India or the Far East stock exactly the same products. In this situation it would be advisable to go direct to the manufacturers.

Price — Of course price is an important element. If you can’t make a decent margin on the products you sell, your business will fail. The reason, however, that I have left price til last is because, in my opinion, it shouldn’t be your primary focus.

How to turn mistakes into personal profit

How to Turn Mistakes Into Personal Profit

All of us make mistakes, don’t we? Whether these mistakes are huge or little, we still have no option but to make all sorts of decisions in our life every day, and it’s very probable that some of these decisions — not being ideal, won’t result in what we desire. It’s a part of human nature to make mistakes, but the best aspect of this is that all of these mistakes will at some point in time lead to a massive step forward toward success.

Success isn’t just a matter of being perfect in everything you do — as perfection comes only from time and experience. How can you differentiate a wrong decision from a right one without knowing what is right and what is wrong? As rightly said by Fred Shero, «Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire».

If you are not making mistakes, it may be that you’re playing on the safe side and not taking any risks. In every mistake you make, there’s a hidden lesson. You’ll end up learning many things from those mistakes, and the next time you arrive at a similar situation or problem — you won’t repeat the earlier actions, and perhaps you’ll even make a perfect decision which will lead to extraordinarily fruitful results.

It is a famous saying that those who have not experienced failure can never know how sweet the taste of success is. If you always succeed easily, then you will never be able to prepare yourself to face the inevitable mistakes and failures. Your strength in overcoming mistakes can make you a role model in the eyes of others who want to learn from your experience, so they can then deal with situations in the same successful manner.

In previous times, there have been quite a few successful inventions which were much more than brief thoughts. Those inventions appeared after considering a great many alternatives and choosing the best from all of them. Many experiments have been done to verify the viability of each of the alternatives, and quite a bit of money and effort was spent to figure out the best solutions, but that doesn’t mean that the expense invested into the experiments got wasted. A great deal of knowledge and experience was gained from those experiments, and all of this was then utilised in the refinement of the final experiments done at later stages.

So, now what do you think, aren’t mistakes an essential aspect of success? Mistakes can happen anywhere and at any time, and it’s a fundamental part of human behaviour to make mistakes. The key here is to strive to deal with the mistakes in a positive manner and always try to learn something new from each one of them.

Lessons from sport and alan jones

Lessons From Sport And Alan Jones

I was flicking through the newspaper on the weekend when I came across an article about Alan Jones.

The article covered a number of things, but there were a couple of things which stood out.

1. He always tries to empty his head so he is ready for the next, not the previous.

And I think that’s an important point for us as business people and entrepreneurs. Forget about the past, focus on the future.

Of course, we need to learn from our mistakes. But it’s all too easy to end up stuck in the past… thinking of the mistakes you have made… the money you lost… the things which went wrong… etc.

But where you focus your attention is where you will get results. So the only place to focus really is on what you want.

And we need to empty our minds from all of the other B.S.

Anyway, here’s the second point he made which I thought was quite powerful.

It’s about sport…

2. «It teaches you that you can’t argue with the scoreboard. It teaches you that you can’t always win, that you’ve got to learn how to lose. You learn to play by the rules, respect the other fellow and learn how to accept adversity and disappointment.»

Now doesn’t business do the same thing?

The scoreboard is how much you are making: That means no excuses, because the only thing that counts at the end of the day is the scoreboard. It doesn’t matter if you just lost that sale, if you should be doing better, the scoreboard tells the final story.

Just like in soccer, if you miss the goals by even a cm, it’s no goal vs. a big goal. And the scoreboard doesn’t argue.

And that’s why we always need to be improving ourselves.

What’s more, we can’t always win in business, can we?

Sometimes we implement a marketing campaign and it totally flops. Sometimes we have multiple losers and that’s okay.

You can’t always win. But you can always keep playing… going back for more and more to put it over the line.

And you’ve got to learn how to lose: I think the answer in the business world is to accept your losses, learn from them and move onto the next.

Adversity and disappointment come with the territory.

In fact, business can be compared to one big ball game.

But the problem is most people don’t know the rules to the single most important element to success: getting customers.

They try to cold call instead of attracting new customers via magnetic methods and they try to write pretty ads (or worse still, ads with their company name on top) instead of mastering the art of creating ads that sell.

Remember, the greatest athletes know all the tricks.

The best soccer players… rugby league players…Australian Rules players and teams have advanced plays which give them an unfair advantage over the average team or player.

Everyone knows the basics. But the key to being a true master is to take the mastery of your craft to another level.
